Sheldon council to hear insurance reviews | News
SHELDON—For the third time in its last four meetings, the Sheldon City Council will hear from Perspective Insurance.
The council will meet at 4:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 15) in the Sheldon Community Services Center.
Perspective updated the council on the renewal for the group health insurance with Wellmark during the May 4 meeting.
The Sheldon insurance agency returned during the June 1 meeting to provide an update on the city’s workers’ compensation renewal.
During today’s meeting, Perspective will give an update on the city’s insurance renewal with the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool.
The premium with ICAP will increase from $156,523 to $195,165 compared to the 2021-22 fiscal year.
Perspective is not the only insurance agency the council will be hearing from today as Gesink & Vander Wilt Agency will give an update on the city’s life and disability insurance. The insurance for the 31 city employees goes through Unum Life Insurance Co.
According to a memo from Joel Gesink from Gesink & Vander Wilt Agency, the plan was up for renewal on July 1 and through discussions, the two sides were able to avoid a rate increase. The rates were locked in with a two-year guarantee.
